Meet Maya

My view of the world turned upside down in April 2018 when I watched the documentary Dominion, and realised I'd spent the first 35 years of my life asleep.  In a trance.  And that many people were still in this trance.  Think this is over the top?  I would have too!  All I can say is: watch Dominion.

The film transformed me overnight from a vegan to an activist.

I joined the Animal Justice Party and I'm currently the Deputy Regional Group Leader in Ballarat.  Pre-Covid, I supported the amazing work of several other incredible groups including the Farm Transparency Project, Animals Australia and Vegan Outreach, and fostered a couple of beautiful lambs via Lamb Care Australia, including Maya.

Covid has prevented many forms of activism but I've tried to bring my ecological skills to online actions, and have made lots of submissions to Government inquiries (as time and energy permit!).  Among the largest was the Government of Victoria's Inquiry into Ecosystem Decline:
  • My original submission
  • Transcript of the Parliamentary Hearing
  • My written responses to questions taken on notice
  • The Committee's Final Report

If you have time to read any of these documents, I'd welcome your feedback so I can as effective as possible next time!
